Small Batch Cream Cheese Frosting

Quick, easy, and savory- this is a lightly sweetened cream cheese frosting recipe you can make while your sweet treats bake. Perfect for cinnamon rolls and scones.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Servings: 12 cinnamon rolls
Course: Breakfast
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces cream cheese room temperature
  • 5 tablespoons butter softened
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • heavy pinch of salt

Equipment

  • 1 hand held mixer or standing mixer

Method

  1. First, allow the cream cheese to get to room temperature and for the butter to soften as well. Do this while you are making up your cinnamon rolls or scones or whatever needs frosting.
  2. While your sweets are baking, take this time to whip up your cream cheese frosting. with a hand-held mixer or standing mixer.
  3. Add all ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Using the hand-held mixer on the lowest setting, mix together the ingredients for about 3 minutes or until all are whipped nicely together.
  4. Use a spatula or frosting knife to ice cinnamon rolls, scones, or any other baked good needing a savory, sweet, delicious cream cheese frosting.

Notes

Note: I like to add the frosting to cinnamon rolls when they are cooled but not completely. This allows the frosting to "melt" into the cinnamon roll.
