How can you bake sourdough bread quickly?
It’s easy, friend. Use a little yeast.
Yeah, I said it. Does that make me less of a sourdough “Artisan” than others? Maybe. And I’m okay with that.
STICK WITH ME HERE!!! This little bit of yeast is a gateway of sorts. Baby steps, friend! Little actions leading to big results overtime.
Start with a little yeast in your sourdough and watch how it’ll transform your entire sourdough journey. One day that little bit of yeast will be a thing of the past but let’s get you good and ready for sourdough things first!
What’s your goal with sourdough bread baking?
Is it to make a decent bread to nourish your family or is it to prove a point?
I ask those questions to provoke thought and real consideration.
So many people have jumped on the sourdough train in the last several years and with good reason. Many woke up to all the poison “they” are feeding us and started asking questions like
“why does this bagged bread have 37 ingredients in it?”
Are you trying to tell the world you can bake sourdough too or do you just want to limit the unnecessary ingredients in most store bought food if you can help it?
Because, same.
Also, do you REALLY like to eat artisan sourdough boule bread on the regular or are you just romanticizing the idea of those airy bubble pockets and crunchy crusts?
Because, ma’am, it’s delicious but it takes a lot of time and intentional effort.
I just want to bake good bread for my family.
If that’s your answer then great! This blog post is for YOU. Keep reading.
I was the same way. I just wanted to make good bread for my family that didn’t contain 1,000 ingredients and preservatives.
So onto the inter webs I went, in search of a good sandwich loaf.
I’ll admit it: the first recipe I tried was garbage. The dog got a good snack out of it. Also admittedly, I attempted that recipe more than once.
And it almost made me give up on bread baking at home altogether!
I thought if homemade bread tastes like this then I guess I’ll have to keep buying the bagged kind. Thank goodness I was wrong.
But it IS what sent me down the sourdough rabbit trail.
Artisan boules are a beautiful work of art and I wish I had more desire to make more of them.
Things are different in the winter. There’s a whole lot of baking and experimenting around here. Good food and keeps the kitchen warm? Sounds good to me.
But come summer, I just need a sandwich loaf for my fresh tomato sandwiches! You too? I got you friend. Here are four bread recipes to get you on your way.
Recipes to make you a BREAD BAKER IN NO TIME:
- Simple Bread Baker Recipe #1: Yeast Bread…
All yeast in this one. Well, yeast with flour, butter, milk, eggs, and a few other staple kitchen items you’ve likely got in your pantry right now.
This recipe makes a delectable sandwich bread, bun, and cinnamon roll. Yep, it’s that’s versatile and SO good! - Simple Bread Baker Recipe #2: Sourdough with a little yeast boost
Turbo powered by some active dry yeast means you can have same day sandwich bread with that familiar sourdough tang. It’s light but it is indeed there. And you didn’t have to take all weekend to make it. I call this one my “Same Day Sourdough Bread”. - Simple Bread Baker Recipe #3: Sourdough sandwich bread
No yeast this time but you’ve mastered the same day sourdough already! Let’s kick it up a notch without the yeast and still be baking bread in 24 hours. Not much hands-on time but she does need to sit and slowly ferment and allow that gluten to be eaten away in the process. *Not all gluten but a lot. If you have celiac’s disease, please do not make any of these recipes unless you can do so gluten-free. Please see my Disclosure statement right quick. - Simple Bread Baker Recipes #4: Sourdough boule
Are you ready for it? I think you are. This recipe is very basic and will yield you a delicious boule the old-fashioned way. I save this one for those short and crisp wintry days where time in the kitchen is for experimenting and keeping warm.
It’s a journey to simple bread baking
What’s the saying… “it’s a marathon, not a sprint?”
Same applies in bread baking at home.
You and your family can enjoy homemade breads and their nourishments with confidence when you are willing to experiment and fail. That means you are growing and learning new things in bread baking.
Again, remember: the most important reason you are baking bread at home is to avoid the crap they put in bagged bread to make it shelf stable. And also to become a simple bread baker. Literally anyone can do this!
Bread Baking Suggested Tools
