Researching for a chicken plucker to assist in processing of our own meat chickens proved to be difficult. There just are not many reviews written for pluckers that aren’t from the more popular brands or unless the plucker is an Amazon find. Here is our unpaid and honest review of the Extra Large Pro Plucker Chicken Plucker by CoopsNMore, manufacturer of Rite Farm Products.

Overall Summary
The long of it will be as you continue to read. The short of it is this:
We really like this plucker. It did a great job, came as described on the website, and really sped up our chicken processing day.
CoopsNMore offers other sized Rite Farm Products chicken pluckers but we chose the Extra Large Pro Plucker as we also raise turkeys in the fall.
Last fall we could only pluck the 7 lb turkey hen in our borrowed plucker and had to hand pluck the tom turkey. Hand-plucking takes a lot of time.
*Will update this blog post when we use the plucker to process our Thanksgiving 2025 turkeys.
The reviews are few
Unless it’s a Yard Bird, Strombergs, or the cheaper ones you can find on Amazon, there just aren’t many reviews online or on YouTube for chicken pluckers.
Featherman is fantastic (so we read) but we are backyard poultry raisers. We are not at a place financially to afford the price of a Featherman. Raising meat chickens is not a business for us currently. We are hobby farmers.
The Vevor brand you can find on Amazon will get the job done but there are many issues with that plucker.

We borrowed a friend’s Vevor 3 times before investing in our own plucker.
Long and the short of it, the motor is poorly placed without gaskets which allowed water into the motor. Needless to say, one use and the plucker had to be replaced (company wasn’t too excited to do it) and friends made adjustments to the machine (that they shouldn’t have to do after spending $350+ on a machine).
Feather tube chute got clogged about every other bird which slowed down processing.
Why Rite Farm Products plucker when there are cheaper options?
It appears in our research for the right chicken plucker that often times a chicken plucker design gets bought and mass produced in other countries by several companies.
Mass production often means cheaper materials and heavy machine production which makes the price lower and most of the time, the quality will be cheaper.
CoopsNMore makes Rite Farm Products pluckers by hand with hand tools and a welder. I cannot say for sure if these pluckers are made in the USA but many of CoopsNMore products are American made.
Handmade often times can mean better quality but also a higher price tag.
CoopsNMore is a small American business based out of Texas and makes this chicken plucker design for Rite Farm Products.

Features we love about the CoopsNMore Extra Large Pro Plucker
- wheels for easy moving
- feather chute (we lay a tarp down to catch the feathers)
- stainless steel material
- 110 volt outlet (some brands require you buy a 220 volt after purchasing that plucker)
- 3 horse power motor
- multiple birds at once (but found one bird at a time plucks better with less bruising)

Features we WISH CoopsNMore Pluckers had:
- a water valve on the machine instead of needing to use a water hose sprayer
- or a hose attachment to hang the sprayer on
- suggestion per our 12 year old son who does most of our scalding and plucking on processing day
- locks on the 4 wheels
- machine moves around while it is running. Use bricks to block the wheels.
- wheel that runs the belt made of a material that does not rust
- after one use, the wheel is rusting. My husband cleaned it well and sprayed Fluid Film on it. This will likely need to be done after each use. Perhaps also before use to extend longevity.
How the CoopsNMore Plucker arrived
The CoopsNMore Extra Large Pro Plucker Chicken Plucker arrived via FedEx to us in North Carolina. The shipping confirmation stated someone needed to sign for it.
Upon delivery, we did not have to sign for the machine but we met our FedEx driver in the driveway. We also had to help her get the plucker off the truck using our own hand truck/dolly. I’m sure she could have done it alone but we were there and willing to help.
The plucker did come with a dent in the front but their website does say this can happen:
“The pluckers travel a great distance prior to being shipped out here at CoopsNMore. For these reasons you can expect to see small scratches, minor dings, scuffs, finger prints, and possibly a sharp edge or two.”
The CoopsNMore plucker arrived in a large wooden crate box with metal strips closing in the sides. Our children found great ways to turn the box into structures that fit into their imaginative play.
Inside the wooden box, the plucker was wrapped in Styrofoam and paper to help protect from scratches.
With a machine this large to be shipped not using freight shipping, we believe it was packaged well.

First Time Use
The first time we used our CoopsNMore chicken plucker, we harvested 45 meat chickens.
This machine handled all 45 Cornish Cross meat chickens ranging from 4-6 lb in weight with ease.
Clean up was fairly easy as we had the tarp under the machine to catch the feathers for easy transporting to the compost pile and compost bins.
We used the water hose sprayer to spray out as many feathers as we could then used our hands to get out the rest.
Some feathers got caught under the black rubber fingers where they attach to the walls of the plucker. We did our best to get as many of those out as possible but some were still left behind.
Would we recommend the CoopsNMore Chicken Plucker?
Overall, yes. We would recommend this plucker to friends and family processing their own backyard meat birds.
The price is about 2x the cheap Amazon chicken pluckers. You often get what you pay for, though.
Although we are just backyard poultry growers, we found after 5 seasons of raising backyard meat chickens for our family and our co-op, we needed to invest in a machine for efficiency.
We are glad, so far, we made the CoopsNMore/Rite Farm Products chicken plucker purchase.
It’s our hope this review will help someone else out there in the world researching the best chicken plucker to purchase.
