Making infusing water is probably the easiest beverage you can make in your kitchen today for flavored water! The health benefits are plentiful as well. In this post, you’ll learn a few of my favorite toxin-flushing herbal infused water combinations. Take plain drinking water up a notch without the chemical powders in pre-made drink mixes. Make water taste great again!
First of all, make sure you are infusing with a filtered water.
Tap water supplied by municipal isn’t the move. Many chemicals are added to keep the water “clean” and “fortified” like chlorine and fluoride. Not medical advice but take a gander at some recent fluoride research. Also, see my own DISCLOSURE STATEMENT.
Even plain bottle water can be infused to make it taste better.
Flavored Water Recipes
Flavoring your water doesn’t need to happen with powdered drink flavorings. You can flavor your water drinks with natural things like herbs and fruit!
The combination of detoxifying water infusions are limitless!
Here are a few of my favorite combinations:
- lemon + lemon balm
- lemon + rosemary
- lemon + mint
- lemon + lime + mint
- pineapple + mint
- pineapple + lemon balm
- pineapple + lemon + mint
- pineapple + basil
- lime + strawberry + lemon balm
- cucumber + mint + lemon
- cucumber + lemon balm
- blueberry + mint
- blueberry + basil
- orange + rosemary
- watermelon + rosemary
- watermelon + mint
- peach + mint
- lavender + lemon
There are many other infusions that can be done using berries like strawberry and blackberry but do know they generally fall apart faster and can add a little “chunk” to your water bottle if not properly strained.
Honey dew and cantaloupe make great choices for fruit infusions. Citrus fruits like grapefruit and other fruits such as pomegranates and apples are solid choices as well.
Lastly, consider early spring fruit tree blossoms like edible cherry, peach, and apple blossom petals for infusing into your water!
How to strain infused water
I personally like to use a pitcher created for infusions.
Alternatively, you can also infuse water in any pitcher then strain in using a colander or cheese cloth if the particles are smaller.

With God’s Word said, are some herbs meant to be eaten and some NOT to be eaten? Absolutely. So PLEASE do your research! And vet the source.

Mint

- improves bad breath
Rosemary
Used a lot in traditional herbal and Ayurvedic medicine.
- high in antioxidants
- antimicrobial
- anti-inflammatory compounds when used as a tea
- may lower blood sugar
- improve mood and memory
- support brain health
- protect eyes and vision
- promote hair quality
- and much more
Lemon Balm
- may help
- relieve stress and anxiety
- improve cognitive functioning
- promote restful sleep
- treats cold sores
- benefits the cardiovascular system
And then there’s this: *needs more research* but currently showing lemon balm has antiviral properties that target the viral activity of coronavirus and HIV.

Notes on the benefits:
Benefits regarding health and herbal use will depend on the quantity used and how it is used.
Some herbs are best as a tea, others are meant to be used topically by infusing herb into an oil. Again, do you research and vet the source!
When we see that God gave us every thing we needed in the Garden of Eden and we still have those things here on Earth today, it’s mind-blowing and awesome! What a GREAT GOD we serve. The ONLY One True God. The God of Creation. The God of the Universe.
How long should infused water last?
In the infusion pitcher, most fruits and herbs can last two days before needing to be tossed out.
Some lighter flavored fruits should be changed daily like blueberries and strawberries.
But don’t just throw the fruit and herbs away!
Compost them or feed them to the chickens and pigs. Bury them in your garden bed at the very least.
How long should I wait before drinking infused water?
The longer the fruit and herbs sit in the water, the stronger the flavor will be.
It is recommended you give the infusion at least 4-6 hours to flavor your water.
Preparing the infusion pitcher at night and allowing the water to be flavored overnight is a good practice for infused water.

How to prepare the fresh herbs and fruits for infused water:
Fruits
Buying or growing organically is the best option to reduce the amount of chemicals you’re ingesting. Also noting the Dirty Dozen and the Clean Fifteen is a good idea too.
Wash all fruits before using.
Berries can be rinsed in a vinegar water. Use 1 tbsp of distilled white vinegar to 4 cups of water. Allow berries to sit in vinegar water for 2 minutes. Drain and dry on a clean towel if you need to use some berries and store the rest in the refrigerator.
Alternatively, you can mix baking soda and water to really strip the bad stuff off the fruit before cutting and slicing.
1 tbsp baking soda to 2 cups water for 12-15 minutes then rinse, drain, and allow to dry.
While this method will NOT remove ALL pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides from the fruit (as some are designed to penetrate through the skin and into the flesh), it is very helpful in removing quite a few of these -cides.
I’m not a scientist so don’t ask for the science behind this but go find it yourself but it’s the alkalinity of baking soda that does the job needed that the acidity of vinegar can’t do.
Herbs

Snip fresh herbs in the morning for the most flavor. Rinse herbs well under cool water before infusing into water pitcher.
If purchasing fresh herbs, still be sure to rinse them well even if in a plastic container.
Some herbs benefit from the leaves being “bruised” before infusing. Simply mash the herbs between your fingers or palms of hands. This helps the leaves release the oils. Such herbs are lemon balm, mint, and oregano. Note that basil, when bruised, will turn black in the water with time. Don’t be alarmed.
Liver Flush

Serve your infused water over ice and let your liver use what you give it to flush out toxins.
